    Do you care about youth mental health and want to help shape resources and strategies that reflect your culture and lived experience?

    We value your perspective, your lived experience and your connection with your community.

    Purpose

    We're looking for 30 young people to participate in the R U OK? National Multicultural Youth Project to develop culturally relevant resources and engagement ideas that support suicide prevention in your community.

    Participants will also inform the development and contribute to the planning and design of youth focussed R U OK?Day activities in September 2026.

    What’s involved

    Participants will be required to:

    • Attend one full-day, in-person workshop in Sydney on Friday, 15 May 2026
    • Participate in two online workshops (2 hours each) on dates to be confirmed

    R U OK? will provide each participant with a small attendance fee and cover the cost of transport and accommodation for those travelling from interstate or regional areas.

    R U OK? will also provide access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for any participant needing mental health support in relation to their participation in the project.


    Eligibility and diversity

    We are looking for young people with the experience, skills, and motivation to make a positive difference. Applicants must:

    • Be aged 18–30.
    • Demonstrate a connection to one of the four language groups (Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, or Vietnamese). This may include speaking the language at home, growing up in the community, or being connected to the community through family.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the mental health challenges in multicultural communities.
    • Be motivated and actively champion mental health awareness and intitiatives in their community, or have lived experience of mental health challenges and/or suicidality.

    Please note that due to the limited number of places available, quotas do apply per state.

    • Applications will be assessed against the criteria above with the aim of achieving a nationally representative group.
    • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a virtual interview
    • All applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application.
